Alpha support

A little guidance.

Answers for Pharos alpha testers. For anything else, we’re an email away.

How do I get access?

Pharos is in closed alpha. Email support@trypharos.app to ask about an invitation. The public Chrome Web Store link is not available yet.

Do I need my own API keys?

Direct mode connects to your Cloudflare account and an optional supported AI provider using your own keys. Invited alpha testers can use an alpha token instead. Setup explains the connection choices and screenshot sharing before you connect.

What should I do when a page is flagged?

Read the explanation in the popup. If you’re unsure, close the tab and reach the service through an address or bookmark you already trust. Avoid entering information or calling a number shown by the suspicious page.

How do I leave a page that feels wrong?

Choose Close this tab in Pharos or use Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + X. Chrome lets you review or change extension shortcuts at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.

Why did Pharos check a page again?

Some scams reveal a fake warning after the page initially looks harmless. Pharos can schedule another check after suspicious changes such as a large overlay, fullscreen request or replaced content. It does not continuously record your screen.

Does a safe verdict guarantee safety?

No. Pharos can make mistakes, miss a threat or be unable to reach a checking service. Keep Chrome updated, check where links lead and treat unexpected requests for credentials or payments carefully.

What if Pharos gets it wrong?

Use Report a wrong verdict in the popup. You can also rescan a page. Reports include the page address and title; alpha-mode uploads depend on the Help improve Pharos setting. Read the privacy policy before sharing logs or screenshots.

How can I control data sharing?

Review Settings → Privacy and your backend mode. Cloud screenshot checks are part of visual protection. Alpha telemetry can be turned off with Help improve Pharos; Direct telemetry stays on your device unless you export and share it.
